When You See Her Snippet I

INT. BAR - NIGHT

TAVARIS OKIRO (tall, black, athletic), JERMAINE SMITH (black,

average in all aspects), ROGELIO RAMIREZ (small, Hispanic,

handsome), and KEITH RIDNOUR (tall, black, model) are all

hanging out at a counter in a crowded bar, picking out women.

Tavaris and Keith are tipsy. Rogelio is sensible. Jermaine is

nonchalant. Tavaris, Jermaine, Rogelio, and Keith all watch a

set of curvy girls walk by.

KEITH RIDNOUR

(Smug; To Tavaris)

I bet you couldn't pull that one.

Jermaine and Rogelio look at Tavaris and then look away.

TAVARIS OKIRO

Man, you know I could get that.

KEITH RIDNOUR

I don't know, man. That other one

you holla’d at right over there.

Keith points to another girl at the other end of the bar.

TAVARIS OKIRO

So? Shoo, she betta recognize she

ain't my girl. My girl outta town.

Both laugh.

TAVARIS OKIRO (CONT’D)

Bet money I pull that number,

though.

KEITH RIDNOUR

I got twenty says you don't.

TAVARIS OKIRO

Aight. Bet

Keith and Tavaris shake hands. Tavaris goes to talk to the

girl amongst her friends.

JERMAINE SMITH

(Scoffs)

Y'all crazy.

KEITH RIDNOUR

What?

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

(Frustrated)

Dude got a girl.

5.

KEITH RIDNOUR

It ain't my fault he out here

flirtin’ and cheatin’. If that's

what he wants to do, that's on him.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

But you're encouraging him.

KEITH RIDNOUR

Bruh, he gone do it with or without

us. You know he already does. He

done smashed like three girls at

his job. I just want to see how

long he can keep it up before

Ashley finds out.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

Bro, that's not what friends do.

KEITH RIDNOUR

Nah, friends have fun together.

Like we doin. Y'all bein too

serious.

JERMAINE SMITH

Aight, bro. All Imma say is I'm not

coverin' either of y'all. Y'all

childish. Y'all gotta stop doin

this.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

Exactly. Ain't no way I'd cheat on

Marie like that.

KEITH RIDNOUR

That's you.

Keith takes his drink from the counter and chugs it.

KEITH RIDNOUR (CONT’D)

(Shrugs; backs away)

This is us.

Keith heads towards Tavaris. He joins join Tavaris in

flirting with the other girls. Jermaine and Rogelio shake

their heads.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

Man, one day they're gonna get

caught, and it's gonna be so

hectic.

6.

JERMAINE SMITH

I been tellin' em for years, man.

They don't care.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

I don't know how they keep it up.

JERMAINE SMITH

Heck if I know. All Imma do is sip

on my drink and keep watching.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

Ain't like they gonna listen to us.

JERMAINE SMITH

Like he said, they'd do it even if

we weren't here, so.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

Keith, I don't mind, 'cause he's

single. Tavaris? That's not cool,

man. Ashley is a good girl.

JERMAINE SMITH

Right?

ROGELIO RAMIREZ (CONT'D)

A good girl.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ (CONT’D)

And he out here steppin’ out behind

her back.

JERMAINE SMITH

She gotta know it's goin on. Ain't

no way.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

If she don't, I feel so bad. Like,

man. I almost want to tell her.

JERMAINE SMITH

Can’t.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

Why not?

JERMAINE SMITH

If you involve yourself, you’re

gonna lose friends.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

If I don’t say anything, how would

that look? Like, would Marie be

able to trust me if I allow my guys

to cheat.

7.

JERMAINE SMITH

She’s knows the difference between

you and us, bro, don’t sweat that.

But man... in this world. If you

tell her, you’ll get hurt. Not too

many people have respect for the

snitch, even if the snitch was

right for telling the truth.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

Man, that’s so messed up.

JERMAINE SMITH

It is what it is. But who knows.

She might have somebody herself,

for all we know.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

I don't think she's the type.

JERMAINE SMITH

Me either, but I'm chillin'

regardless.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

Yeah, but I don’t know why. You're

single. Why don't you go get one?

JERMAINE SMITH

And what? Leave you alone so Marie

can kill all of us if a girl tries

to talk to you? It’s not like she’d

even let you be here without me.

Cuz you know she don’t like Keith

and Tavaris. (Chuckles)

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

(Tickled)

Ah, come on, man. You ain’t have to

go there. (Chuckles). You know I

would never go behind Marie's back.

I love that woman. That’s mi amor.

Mi corazón. Mi hermosa. El amor de

mi vida. La razón por la que

respiro con una alegria en mi alma.

JERMAINE SMITH

(Giggles)

Here you go with the Spanish.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

(Chuckles)

I love mi regalo Salvadoreño de

Dios.

8.

Ella es beuno para el corazón de un

Mexicano. I gotta show her love in

both languages, or three, if you

know what I mean.

JERMAINE SMITH

(Tickled)

You don’t have to say that. You

don’t.

Both laugh.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

But don't let me hold you back. You

can get out there and get you one.

JERMAINE SMITH

(Chuckles)

Eh. This not really my kinda place

to pick up women. They only here

for one thing, and you know me.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

Tryna wait for the real thing, God

bless your soul. I get it, I get

it. But you never know. A girl in

here might be looking for the same

thing. You just never know.

JERMAINE SMITH

True... true...

Jermaine catches a glimpse of the girl Tavaris is targeting.

She looks at him and they catch eyes. What sounds like a

bullet shot from a silenced weapon whizzes through the air

(it's a love dart from Cupid). Cupid's dart injects a liquid

into Jermaine's skin and disappears like vapor (no one can

see this besides Cupid). Jermaine smacks his neck, feeling

like a mosquito bit him.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

You alright?

JERMAINE SMITH

(Rubbing neck)

Yeah, felt like a mosquito bit me.

Jermaine looks back at the girl Tavaris is flirting with.

He's infatuated.

STREET

NOW OUTSIDE, CAMERA FOCUSES ON CUPID.

Behind a car, parked on the curb, on the opposite side of the

street from the bar, Cupid watches his targets in the club

through the scope of his rifle, with his rifle set on the

roof of the car.

CUT TO:

EXT. BAR - NIGHT

Near closing time, Tavaris exits the almost full bar with

BETHANY JAMES (thick, black girl Jermaine is infatuated with)

underneath his arm. They're laughing as Tavaris walks with

them. Jermaine, Keith, and Rogelio walk out just behind them.

ROGELIO RAMIREZ

Ey, I'm out.

Tavaris, Keith, and Jermaine turn around. The four girls stop

so the men can part ways. Jermaine glares at Bethany.

JERMAINE SMITH

I'm out too.

KEITH RIDNOUR

Aight, dawg.

TAVARIS OKIRO

Y'all be easy.

They individually grasp hands and hug each other. Jermaine

and Rogelio wave to the ladies, and they wave back. Jermaine

and Rogelio exit.

CUT TO:

EXT. STREET - NIGHT

Cupid crouches on a roof across the street. He has his rifle

aimed and ready to shoot Bethany. He looks through the scope

and sees the men saying goodbye for the night. He sees

Jermaine looking at Bethany. He goes to shoot but Tavaris

stands in the way.

Cupid looks back through the scope and sees Jermaine and

Rogelio leaving the group while Keith and Tavaris go with the

girls. Cupid sucks his teeth.

Cupid jumps down from the roof and landson the sidewalk. He

follows Bethany, Tavaris, Keith, and the other three women as

they walk to a parking garage. Cupid keeps trying to get a

good shot, but Tavaris unknowingly blocks his shoot

continuously while entertaining the women.

CUPID (CONT’D)

(Frustrated whisper)

Move, boy.

They all laugh and keep walking. Keith is flirting with two

of the other three women. Cupid follows at a distance.
